During her initial concept meetings with the staff at Options Clinic, Lynnae Haerle Burns felt an instant connection. She knew immediately that she wanted to symbolize the themes of empowerment and general health and wellness with a spiral. “It represents growth and change. I use the spiral a lot in my work,” she says. As she sketched the images for Options Clinic’s “Building
Better Options” campaign, she also stressed pattern and texture.
“Line quality is the favorite part of my art,” Haerle Burns says.
Although she originally created the pieces in black ink, she added
watercolor, stressing vibrant warm colors for the abstract human
forms. Her images are featured in a series of notecards and a journal Options Clinic will sell as a fundraising project. Haerle Burns, an art specialist at Logan Middle School in La Crosse,
generously donated her time to the project and is excited to contribute to the clinic with her talent. “The artwork is a great way to create awareness and allow people to know that there are choices,” she says.
