10 Steps to Effectively Putting on a Condom
Step 1: Make sure that both of you are agreeing to intercourse.
Step 2: Have more than one condom available.
Step 3: Check the package expiration date. Do not used expired condoms.
Step 4: Check the package and condom for tears and make sure the package has an air-tight seal. Make sure you are using condoms that specifically state they will help prevent pregnancies, STDs, and HIV.
Step 5: After you have an erect penis, check the condom for the proper way it unrolls and roll the condom onto the erect penis all the way to the base. Remember to leave a 1/2" reservoir tip for the ejaculate. Make sure you have a condom on correctly before there is any sexual contact.
Step 6: Use only water-based lubricants to reduce friction and lower the risk of breaking the condom.
Step 7: Have intercourse.
Step 8: After ejaculation, withdraw the penis while it is still hard making sure to hold the condom at the base of the penis as it is pulled out. This will help to keep the semen in the condom and prevent any spilling.
Step 9: With the penis away from your partner remove the condom.
Step 10: Tie the condom in a knot and dispose of it in a trash receptacle.
Tips:
Condoms are available in many brands and also may vary in size, color, and texture. Condoms are also available with or without lubrications.
Keep condoms handy. Condoms should be stored in a cool, dry place. They should not be carried in your wallet since body heat may deteriorate the condom. Condoms should not be frozen.
Never used oil-based lubricants! Vaselines an lotions can damage the latex and break down the condom.
Condoms must be used with each act of sexual intercourse.
Condoms should be used only once. A new condom should be used for each ejaculation. There should be no contact after ejaculation and the condom is removed since some live sperm could be on the end of the penis.
If you happen to put the condom on the wrong way and it will not unroll down the penis, discard that condom and use a new one. After touching the tip of the penis, there could be some live sperm on the condom.
Note: The effectiveness of all birth control methods is directly related to the motivation of the individual to use the method correctly and consistently
